Frequently Asked Questions

How can I apply to be a committee member?
We run our member recruitment at various times throughout the year. Click here to find out more about being a committee member

Which countries can I go to?
AIESEC has a network in over 110 countries around the world, which means you can go almost anywhere, from Cambodia to South Africa to Turkey.

What does it cost?
AIESEC has an internship  fee of $600 which cover our costs of administration and organising your internship position.

Will I be by myself?
It depends on which internship you choose - some have up to 10 interns from all over the world working on the one project, whilst others will have only one position available. But the AIESEC team in your host country will always be around to help you out if you need advice or want some buddies to hang out with.

Do I have to pay for airfares and accommodation?
Yep - AIESEC secures your internship position but the rest is up to you. This is unlike some of the 'prepackaged' internships out there who charge you thousands of dollars to organise your entire trip. We have found that it ends up being cheaper for you to organise the airfares yourself because it's more flexible. The local AIESEC committee in your host country helps you to organise accommodation, usually at a far cheaper rate than you'd be able to find yourself. There are also often share houses which you can live in with other interns. If you choose a country in Asia for example, the accommodation, food and entertainment will generally be very cheap.

Can I have access to your database before I sign the contract?
Unfortunately as our database is effectively only for people who sign the contract and pay the admin fee, we cannot allow you to access the database beforehand. However if you are interested to know what type of internships we have specifically, you can contact our friendly exchange team and they will be happy to pull some sample internships off the system to let you have a look at.

This is to ensure that people do not try and cheat the system and organise their own internships outside of AIESEC, as this reflects badly on AIESEC as an organisation. Also the companies that partner with us, do so expecting an intern from AIESEC.

What is the Exchange Application Process?

1) Fill out an application form
Fill out an Exchange Application Form and send it to our Exchange Director at: shaun.ernst@aiesec.net.

A member of our Exchange Team will get in contact with you shortly after. This application form tells us what kind of internship you are looking for, plus helps us to determine if our program is suitable for you. It will also be used in the Interviewing process later.

2) 10 min Individual Interview
Our Exchange team will interview applicants to determine if you will be a fit ambassador for AIESEC as an organisation. This is also to set expectations and to ensure that you find exactly what you are looking for with AIESEC.

4) Undergo Member Review Board (Interview by Panel)
After you have passed the individual interview, you will go through a more extensive interview process to ensure that we are sending the right people overseas, people that will reflect well on Monash University and AIESEC.

5) Contract and Payment
Upon successfully passing the Member Review Board, you will sign the contract upon which you will have total access to our database of over 13,000 internship. Payments are also made within 2 weeks of signing the contract.

6) Choose your internship
Select and apply for an AIESEC internship through our database.

A member of the Exchange team will be with you every step of the way - helping you to find your overseas internship, ensuring that your accommodation and visas are all taken care of, as well as checking up on you every now and then while you are away to make sure you are having the time of your life!
